Joey "Minnesota Ice" Abell will be taking on Alfred Cole in a 12 round fight at Hotel Africana, Kampala.
Don Elbaum telephoned last week to spread a message: Boxing fans should no longer be depressed about the demise of Pacquiao-Mayweather. A new mega-fight is on the way to Uganda.
Elbaum is an adviser to Joey Abell; a 28-year-old heavyweight from Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Joey has a (somewhat padded) 25-and-4 record, with 24 of his victories coming by way of knockout.
Elbaum swears that Abell is “the hardest punching heavyweight since John L. Sullivan.” He further proclaims, “When it comes to pure punching power, I’d rank Joey, Earnie Shavers, and Mike Tyson one-two-three in that order.”
US based Mohammad Kalyango, the African Assassin, will also be joining Ice fighting professionally for the first time in his homeland. He is the # 1 rated welterweight in Uganda.
Baltic Pro Box's Sweden based Ugandan top guns Peter "Boyz Boyz" Semo, Abdu " Cobra" Tebazalwa, Hassan "hitman" SSaku and Wycliffe "Wicked" Muwanga will be featuring on the undercard together with the local super flyweight champion Mudde Ntambi.
The American based Swedish heavyweight star Attila Levin will be taking on former world champion Robert Daniels in a 12 rounds for the vacant World Boxing Foundation heavyweight title.
This will be the biggest boxing event ever to take place in Uganda.
The fight will be promoted throught the world and will be offered on PPV on gofightlive.tv and on other TV networks around the world.
